Precast/Prestressed Girder Help

Multi-Span

The Multi-Span screen is available only if the span type was specified as multi-span. To input the span data, click Add/Edit Multi-Span to activate the Multi-Span. Setting the graphics option to True shows a 2-D view of the bridge elevation, aiding in the input and visual validation of data entry in this screen

Note that if you selected the LRFD design code, the check box titled "Post-Tensioned" becomes available for selection. Depending if this option is checked or not, the distribution factors may be computed based on two options, respectively:
  1. Sufficiently connected to act as a unit.
  2. Connected only enough to prevent relative vertical displacement at the interface. (For more information, see LRFD Table 4.6.2.2.2b-1.)

For each span, input the required data directly in the grid. The grid features the first level of data validation and any incorrect entries are flagged for the user's attention by turning red. Use the utility buttons such as Insert Row, Copy Row and Delete Row to enter/modify remaining span information. The on-screen diagram at the top of the Multi-Span screen illustrates all the terms used. You can modify the value in any particular span by directly editing the values in the grid. When you have entered all the spans, click OK to return to the Geometry screen.
